DIY Beauty: Nourish and Detox Chocolate facial mask for soft, glowing skin

When it comes to looking great I believe in going back to nature and keeping your skincare really simple:

If you can’t eat it, don’t feed it to your skin either

Consider these facts for a  moment:

  • A woman puts on average 168 chemicals on her body daily (85 for a man) through skincare and makeup products.
  • Your skin is 70% of your body and it takes only 20 seconds for any chemical applied to your skin to get into your bloodstream. Children absorb 40% more than adults.

  • In the US almost 13,000 chemicals are used in cosmetics, and only about 10% have been evaluated for safety (gulp!)

So why would you choose to lather yourself in chemicals day in and day out when nature has so very generously provided us with the most amazing beauty ingredients that will feed, nourish, protect and regenerate your skin? Ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard. You’d be surprised what amazing results you can achieve with a bit of DIY skincare magic and it’s really inexpensive, super effective and safe, too.

To show you how easy it is to make amazing DIY skincare I’m sharing my favorite detox facial mask that you can make in seconds and it will leave your skin baby soft and glowing. It smells amazing too! Works well for both ladies and gents:

Chocolate Face Pack for all skin types

Mix in a small glass for 1 portion:

1 tablespoon raw organic cacao powder

⅛ teaspoon turmeric powder

½ teaspoon finely ground organic coffee

⅛ teaspoon cold-pressed olive or almond oil

Mix with enough raw organic honey to create thick paste

Add 1 drop of lavender or sweet orange essential oil (optional)

Honey nourishes and helps your skin to retain moisture. It’s also anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. Raw cacao is full of antioxidants and minerals that help combat aging. Turmeric is an amazing beauty food that is highly anti-inflammatory and helps with skin outbreaks. Olive oil nourishes, soothes and moisturises without clogging your pores. Coffee gently exfoliates your skin and helps to combat wrinkles.

Apply a thick layer with a brush or fingers to a clean face and neck, avoiding eyes and lips, massage for 30 seconds with gentle circular movements to remove dead skin cells, leave for 15 minutes while you relax and inhale amazing aroma, rinse off with cool water, pat dry and enjoy your natural glow.
