In the madness of the festive season it's really easy to get stressed out and let the self-care routine to get out of the window completely. The one thing that actually can keep you sane during the drinking and present-buying holiday madness?
Giving yourself a present of ME TIME for an hour to recharge and relax.
In today's DIY we are making awesome relaxing and detoxing bath soak (yay!). I think there are very few things that compare to a relaxing warm bath after a crazy day. This soak contains everything to help your body relax and revitalize.
YOU WILL NEED:
1 cup Epsom Salts or Pure Magnesium Flakes
1 cup Pink Himalayan Salt
1 cup Dead Sea Salt (or Celtic Salt)
1 cup pure baking soda
1/2 cup lavender flowers (optional)
15-20 drops of Lavender pure essential oils (or 50/50 lavender and chamomile essential oils)
Mix everything (except for the oils) in a glass bowl until well combined. Add your essential oils and mix well again. Store in a glass container with a tight lid.
Use 1-2 cups of the mix in a bath and soak for 20–30 minutes. Voila! You feel like a new person. This mix is also awesome after intensive workout.
Why these ingredients? The best remedies are provided by nature. They are pure, chemical free and smell just divine. Why is this my personal favorite blend?
Epsom Salt (or Magnesium Crystals/Flakes) are not actually salt but a naturally occurring pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin and replenishes the level of magnesium in the body. The magnesium helps to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation. It is also known to ease pain and relieve inflammation, making it beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles, bronchial asthma and migraine headaches.
Pink Himalayan Salt is ideal for remineralizing the body as it contains 80+ minerals and trace elements most people are severely deficient in. It is naturally detoxifying, stimulates circulation and soothes sore muscles.
Dead Sea Salt contains 21 minerals including magnesium, calcium, sulfur, bromide, iodine, sodium, zinc and potassium. These essential minerals naturally occur in our bodies but must be replenished, as they are lost throughout the day. These minerals are known to treat, detoxify, and cleanse our bodies.
Bicarbonate of Soda (aka Baking Soda) helps wash away oil and perspiration, and also neutralizes acids on the skin. It is especially great for soothing skin rashes, and can even help chronic problems like eczema. It also has an ability to drain the lymphatic system of toxins and disease.
Pure Essential Oil of Lavender is know for its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. When you need to relax, lavender is the way to go. You can add chamomile essential oil for even deeper relaxation.
