People whose health, weight, confidence and even career, is suffering.
Why? Because I’ve been there, and I’ve most definitely done that. Now I know that you don’t have to choose between your career and your life. Truly, you can have your cake and eat it too, without paying the price with your health.
I spent more than a decade in a successful corporate career in the financial sector before completely burning out. Oh, did I mention that I collected a bunch of mystery digestive disorders along the way? It was terrifying. Every time I ate the pain was unbearable.
My body had finally served me the bill and this time I had to pay the price.
On paper, I did everything ‘right’. I ate healthy food and exercised. Yet most days I felt overwhelmed, exhausted and freaked out. I had no idea what was wrong with me. Neither did any doctor I visited. And I had no idea where to turn for help.
The day finally came when I realised that no one was coming to save me.
My boss didn’t care I worked 12 hours a day. If I didn’t choose to put myself first, no one would. I had to take my life into my own hands.
I’m an intensely driven, results-focused person (can you tell? ;)), and it was incredibly hard to admit to myself that I wasn’t (and still am not) a superwoman. I’m human. And I desperately needed to get healthy.
It took a year to put myself back together.
A year of extreme self-care. Of creating a loving partnership with my body and mind through yoga and meditation. Of detoxifying my life and learning to say NO to things and people that drained my energy. Of resting. Of exercising in a way that supported me and diving deep into nutrition.
Although this process was confronting at the time, I learned to know myself like never before, got healthy, redefined my career and reincarnated myself as a health and wellness coach.
In the process I also discovered that the real key to unlocking healing and achieving true, lasting health lay not in the body, but in the mind.
That’s right, mindset is everything.
Why? Because health doesn't live in your body alone; it resides within your whole life (mind, body, soul).
True health is found by nourishing every area of your life: your relationships, your career, your spiritual connection and how you move your body.
Yes, there’s more that sustains you than what’s on your dinner plate.
Perhaps you want to lose weight, heal a chronic illness or a digestive disorder, change your career or simply feel comfortable in your skin – whatever it is you’re aiming for, you simply cannot get all the way there without taking your mindset with you.
You cannot change your behaviour without changing your beliefs.
This realisation fast-forwarded my healing journey and has become the foundation of my work as a health coach.
